About me

Hello there! Although I have a short "about me" section at the side of the blog, I thought it would be fun to expand on it a little.

I'm a Catholic young woman who enjoys doing crafty things. Knitting, sewing, and crochet are my favourites, but I'll give almost anything a go. I love making my own clothes, and I dream of having a wardrobe full of homemade pieces.

I want to sew a dress like this.

I enjoy reading. Jane Austen is my favourite author, but I like Dickens, Wilkie Collins, Georgette Heyer, G.K. Chesterton, Agatha Christie, Rumer Godden, J.R.R. Tolkien... almost anything that's intelligently and well written.

I enjoy writing. I would like to publish stories and novels some day, but even if I never did, I would still want to write. I've always written short stories and attempted to write novels; the longest I've ever got is 44, 500 words. I want to write a very long book someday, just for the fun of it.

I enjoy music. I play the piano, and I have a long list of pieces I aspire to play. I want to learn the organ some day. I sing soprano in a choir, and I love it.

I started blogging to write about my hobbies, but I also like blogging about films and my opinions on them, life, and anything that takes my fancy!

  1. Hello, Cecilia! It's nice to make your acquaintance. I found your blog through your comment on Megan's "Only Mildly Mad" blog. Your scarves on your business site are beautiful! <3 I love knitting and creating too. Great list of authors. I've only read "In This House of Brede" by Godden, but I loved it. I sing soprano in the choir as well! Do you attend a Latin Mass? Have a wonderful Easter season!! God bless you!

    1. Hello, Sarah! So lovely to meet you - I've been reading through everything on your blog, but since Christmas I've been horribly disorganised in the blogosphere so I haven't commented... Thank you! <3 What do you like to knit?? "In This House of Brede" is the reason why Godden is one of my favourites - it is So. Good., isn't it? Singing soprano is fun :D until one gets crazily high notes (which is sometimes fun, but frequently painful ;) ) Yes, I do! Not exclusively, but 90% of the time, I do! Do you? Have a great Easter too, and God bless!
