Am I allowed to do this?!
Am I alone in my love of trawling through other people's blog archives? I came across this post at Snippets and Speculations - from 2016! (Which is, though it doesn't feel like it, nine years ago now...) Anyway, it says that everyone else reading this post can do it, so why not?!
Anyway, what on earth am I talking about? It's a tag - a Favourite Things tag, no less. The rules are:
1. Add the above picture to the post.
2. Acknowledge the person who tagged you.
3. Answer the questions.
4. Tag a person, multiple persons or no persons.
I will not tag anyone as I have not been tagged...
Questions:
1. Favourite book:
I would have to answer this by saying that my favourite non-religious book is probably Persuasion by Jane Austen. Probably.
2. Favourite Animal:
I am not an animal person, but I like cats. Sometimes.
3. Favourite Colour:
Pink. I love pink - in a restrained, tasteful, and un-girly way.
4. Favourite Flower:
Roses roses roses. I have a beautiful pink rose-bush which I have obsessed over lovingly nurtured for the past two years.
5. Favourite language:
English, followed closely by French.
6. Favourite country:
England - her culture, her traditions and history, and her literature (and the spelling, which means that Blogger underlines "favourite" with a red line every time I write it).
7. Favourite time period:
Regency, followed closely by mid-Victorian and medieval.
8. Favourite historical ruler:
Queen Mary I of England. A controversial choice.
9. Favourite number:
3 or 17. No idea why.
10. Favourite beverage:
Day-to-day, I like coffee and peppermint tea.
11. Favourite finger:
This one took me by surprise. But if I have to pick, it would be my right hand middle finger.
12. Favourite snack:
Cadbury's Dairy Milk Chocolate (not that I buy it that often) or cashew nuts.
13. Favourite season:
All of them! Honestly, they are all just as good and just as bad as the rest. In fact...well, I like spring, probably, but then I'm no fan of light evenings - they are too melancholy. That means I will go for autumn.
14. Favourite kind of clothing:
Oh dear, that's hard. I am not remotely fashionable. Probably circle skirts, anything Victorian with a huge skirt/crinoline, and anything 1940's/50's.
15. Favourite music (particular songs, artists, or just in general):
I love baroque music, especially Bach. Romantic (as in, the movement in music) piano music (think Brahms, Chopin, etc.) is gorgeous. I like some French songs.
16. Favourite time of day:
From about 10:00-1:00.
17. Favourite school(-ish) subject:
English, French, and music (though that sort of doesn't count for me). Oh, and art.
18. Favourite spice:
Ginger is okay, and cinnamon. To be honest, I'm more of a herb person.
19. Favourite superhero:
I don't really know...I'm not really a superhero person. Can I say...Elastagirl?!
20. Favourite anything of your choice:
Favourite date of the year: 9th September. Guess why...
So that's that!
That's such a fun idea! I love 40's/50's clothes too! Autumn is really nice, and I love the colours, but spring and summer are better, I think. Hot summers are amazing! What kinds of French songs do you like?
ReplyDeleteWell, I listen to a random selection of French modern/vintage songs that all have a good tune and fun words! I don't have a particular artist that I like, but I suppose you could say that I like songs you can sing along to, if you know what I mean :) And yes, summers are amazing...it was a hard choice!
DeleteIndeed, and you are not ;) Alone in delighted explorations deep in the archives of blogs past and present, I mean.... Isn't that half the fun??
ReplyDeleteAnd here I am, after having intended to comment ever since this post was, well, posted. Ah vel. At long last! And this feels a little like a chance to get to know you better, what fun🤗 I must say I'm with you on British spelling, and the colour pink :)
Also you would not enjoy our particular summer evenings a bit, I think😂 They look too much like late afternoon....
It's lovely to hear from you, whenever you have time :) Yes, pink is nice, isn't it? I love it combined with gold...
DeleteOh, yes, those evenings don't sound ideal for me...I just find the tired evening light a bit depressing! 😂 I prefer winter evenings, I must say.
Ha, you're definitely not alone - I used to read others' blog archives voraciously. :P
ReplyDeleteOh wow, there's not a "British English" setting on Blogger? That was most short-sighted of them.
Heh, are you like me and is The Incredibles the only superhero movie you've seen? I too am very much not a superhero person, but I love The Incredibles; I think it's a legitimately great movie.
No, there doesn't seem to be such a setting...maybe I'm missing something, though. It does seem odd if there isn't!
DeleteYes, The Incredibles is the only superhero movie I've seen. Actually, come to think of it, I may have seen another one, but I didn't enjoy it that much - it can't have been brilliant if I've forgotten about it for so long. The Incredibles is amazing! Great concept, great music, great storyline. I have watched it many times and I still enjoy it...
