Crochet Plans
I realized that I haven't done any knitting/crochet themed posts yet, so I thought I'd start today...
I recently finished crocheting a blanket that I started just after Christmas. I'm really pleased with it, especially as it meant I got back into crochet again! I wanted to find another crochet project to work on, so here are my ideas (all patterns come from Lovecrafts.com):
1. Crocheted Daffodil
The daffodils are just beginning to come out now, and I thought it would be fun to try this out. I'd want to make them all in yellow, I think, or do them in different shades of yellow to mimic the different types of daffodil.
2. String Bag
This is a bit random, but string bags seem so nice and vintage!
3. Blanket
I'm not sure if I'm ready for another blanket yet, but maybe in a few months...and this blanket is very pretty and just a bit different.
4. Beret
I love berets - they're so versatile! I'd love to make this in dark blue or maybe deep red, or possibly even in stripes.
5. Collar
This is fun and quirky, and I imagine it would be rather warming in winter. Also, it would be quick to make!
6. LaceSomething completely different...isn't this lace beautiful? I think this might just be my favourite. If anyone else has read the Little House on the Prairie books, they will remember that Laura makes "yards of knitted lace" and I'm sure there's a reference somewhere about her making crocheted lace, too. I would love to try this.
7. Socks
Thoughts on knitted/crocheted socks, anyone? I personally like the idea, as it seems old-fashioned and fun! (And knitted socks can be extremely comfortable.) I'm not a fan of the colors of these socks, but I would like to give them a go in another color.
8. Shawl
This shawl looks so pretty! It would be perfect in the summer over a dress, and then over a jumper/cardigan in winter or spring. Also, it doesn't look too impossibly large: I've lost count of the number of projects I've started and given up because they were too big!
Those are all the projects I'm thinking of doing next. Which is your favourite?
Ooh, loveliness!! I'm a fan of berets myself, so I'm fully in favour of this particular project😄 And the shawl, that's so pretty.... And I believe I once actually did write down a whole pattern for crochet socks (being a Person Who Does Not Knit) in a notebook many years ago, now that I think of it.... Perhaps you can tell me if they're comfortable if you ever try this! 😄All these projects make me want to pick one up myself, I suddenly miss handling a crochet hook!
ReplyDeleteBerets are the best!!! I love hats but I'm not normally brave enough to venture out in a truly vintage hat - berets are a good half-way house. Yes, I'll let you know! I just wish I could do nothing but crafts...I have two knitting projects and a sewing project on the go already, but not enough time to finish them...I wish there were more hours in the day. One advantage of knitting/crochet is you can read or watch a film while you're doing them, which means you can get lots done 😄
