Drifting Leaves: Autumn Tag Challenge
I have just been tagged by Autumn for this challenge, which looks super fun and is also, if you ask me, an inspired idea! Thanks, Autumn! Fall is my favourite season, so I'm looking forward to this.
The rules are as follows:
1. Download the cover photo and use it for your post (done!)2. Acknowledge the person who tagged you (check!)
3. Tag others and comment on their blog to let them know!
4. Slip into autumn vibes
Now, on to the fun part...
1. If autumn isn't your favourite season, what is? And if autumn is your favourite season, why?
Autumn is my favourite season, hands down. I love the nip in the air, the feeling of preparation and anticipation, the changes in nature, the colours, being able to wear chunky jumpers, scarves, jackets, and all my trusty winter clothes again, that feeling when you're warm and snuggly in bed and the outside room is cold... and also the return to a routine of sorts.

Ooh, great question! Well, autumn starts with my birthday (9th September), then continues with the birthdays of three of my siblings, so I always love those. I also start making candles again. I spend far too long planning to knit lots of jumpers which I never normally get round to making. We also tend to do more hiking over the autumn and winter, staying out all day and coming home in the dark.
For a few years running, we went camping for a couple of weeks at the beginning of October and some of my favourite memories are connected with those trips. The weather was sunshiny, with just enough rain to be cosy. The trees in the forest were beautiful. We ate our meals outside, even when it was dark. It was so much fun! (Except the time when we were caught in an enormous storm and one of the tent poles broke. That wasn't so fun.)
The entire Little House on the Prairie series reminds me of autumn... but also Persuasion, with its sad melancholy ending in happiness. In terms of movies... probably the Granada TV series of Sherlock Holmes. I know I've said this before, but it exudes autumnal vibes. Maybe that's because so many of the episodes take place in autumn or winter?
Coffee is my favourite drink for any season! I also like cocoa (in moderation).
6. What is one new thing that you want to do this autumn?
This is not it, but I like this quilt very much
I am determined to finish the quilt that I've been working on for ages! The night I can actually sleep under that quilt, I will be so happy. I also want to learn the other two movements of the Mozart piano sonata I've started.
7. Do you decorate for the season? If so, how? If not, how come?
Yes, I do, in a minimal way. I have an assortment of crocheted or sewn blankets that come out, some candles, and a sort of autumnal garland. I want to knit a pumpkin ornament, but I haven't got round to it yet. We also have leaves, conkers, nuts and sometimes pumpkins and squashes on our dining table, and in the past, I've waxed leaves to arrange round the room. Oh, and I have some fairy lights which I haven't put up yet (I'm trying to decide whether to save them for Christmas or not).
8. Thanksgiving is a couple of months away; what is your favourite way to celebrate? (I think most of my blogger friends are American. 😂) If not, skip this one.
I can actually answer this one, even though I'm not American XD. Though we don't do anything special for Thanksgiving, for the past few years friends of ours have come to stay as they've had time off for it.
10. Type up a list of ten words or names (i.e. White Chicken Chili) that encapsulate the season of autumn for you.
9. What colour most makes you think of autumn?
All the burnt oranges, deep reds, and golden yellows!
1. Cool mornings
2. Crisp leaves
3. Muddy walks
4. Chunky jumpers
5. Candles
6. Casseroles
7. Blackberry picking
8. Crab apple jelly
9. Geese flying overhead
10. Evenings drawing in
I know that's ten phrases, but it gives you an idea!
And that's it!
In terms of tagging people, I'm going to tag Caroline Bingley at Truths Universally Acknowledged and leave it there, as most people I can think of have already been tagged (or I've tagged them relatively recently). If you're reading this though, do steal the tag!
Thanks again, Autumn! I had great fun with this.
What do you love about autumn, and what are your plans for the season?
