A rather crazy writing challenge
I was browsing Pinterest this afternoon and I came across two quotations:

I have a very hazy idea of who Ray Bradbury is, but I don't see what's wrong with his advice (except that I think it's perfectly possible to write fifty-two bad short stories in a row). I'm going to do it - write a short story every week for a year. I also like the second idea, so I'm going to do that. I may publish these stories here. Even if I don't, I plan to share snippets of them for accountability.

Wowwwwww... *Emi draws in an awed breath* 52 stories in one year, that is really quite a decent amount :P Although having a week to formulate each story in sounds less daunting than I thought it would just at first. I can't wait to see either snippets or whole stories, this feels like the beginning of something exciting!

(Haha, and it's funny that you said that about its being perfectly possible to write fifty-two bad short stories in a row, because as I was reading that quotation I was mentally pursing my lips dubiously and saying "well...mayyybe..." so I'm happy that it struck you that way too. xD) I wish you all kinds of luck, and I look forward to seeing what story-ish things come to be through this challenge :D
ReplyDelete(Hehe, that's what I thought when I read the quotation, too... I just don't see how it *couldn't* be possible to write 52 bad stories in a row :D) But "if a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing badly", so it'll be fun to give it a shot xD And thank you very much!
DeleteThat is a lot of stories!! I wish you the best of luck on your challenge!! I'm doing a writing challenge to write a short story every week for five weeks and even that feels a bit like a lot, 😅 I would like to do the same thing one year though, someday!!

DeleteThis is a great idea!! I usually think of shor stories being so short you write them in a sitting, so a week to write one story sounds like a good deal of time to me! XD I'm sure if I actually tried it though, it would feel short to develop and actual story. I can't wait to see your results!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, I think of short stories being that long, too, so hopefully it'll work out xD That being said, I realised this morning that it's Thursday already and I haven't thought about this week's story yet, so I'd better pull up my socks and get writing...
